Polymicro Technologies highlights optical fiber bundle assemblies at SPIE Photonics West

February 17, 2016 By Mary Gannon Leave a Comment

Molex, LLC is highlighting its Polymicro Technologies Optical Multi-Leg Assemblies and Fused Bundles in Booth 2137 at SPIE Photonics West, at The Moscone Center in San Francisco. The bundle assemblies are custom configured for analytical and industrial optical requirements, including biotechnology and pharmaceutical diagnostic equipment, semiconductor fabrication and inspection, and laser welding and marking.

“Quality and accuracy are critical to measuring samples in spectroscopy, and not easily achieved with standard assemblies,” said Teodor Tichindelean, global product manager, Molex Polymicro Technologies products. “Our high power optical fiber bundle assemblies are manufactured from raw material to final product in one location for consistent quality and precision performance.”

Molex combines design support, fiber production and assembly of high fiber count, high packing fraction bundles in the same location for significant cost savings. The Fused Bundles, a new product series added to Polymicro’s capabilities, maximizes the number of fibers in a bundle, while minimizing wasted space. Designed for use in high-temperature applications requiring high power density, lamps and lasers, the fused bundling eliminates epoxy, fluorescence and interstitial spaces common in multi-fiber bundles.

Polymicro Technologies capabilities include:

Medical and Industrial Optical Fibers and Assemblies

  • ISO 13485 / Registered and Compliant to FDA 21 CFR 820 and Class 7 Low Bio Clean Room
  • Packaged and sterilized disposable devices

Vertical Manufacturing Site

  • Glass preparation, draw towers, various coatings and finished assemblies
  • Laser end prep and glass machining

“Customer design requirements vary in complexity,” added Tichindelean. “Single-source Polymicro Technologies optical fiber probes can be tailored per customer specifications and quality control system for unparalleled design flexibility and cost savings.”
