2. Micro coax cable
This thin-in-as-a-thread micro coax cable comes from Alpha Wire. This sample is 48 gauge but it will also be available as 50 gauge, too—the smallest size for Alpha Wire ever, said Kim Versaw, marketing communications manager. The braid-shielded cable is great for video applications and portable medical devices.
Coming out in April, this micro coax cable will be a standalone, standard product, available off the shelf for faster shipping. The smaller sizes come as cables must perform more complex functions. Alpha Wire told me that As the number of functions such as power, data, signal, video, and tubes for fluids ingress and egress increase, Cable must become smaller and more versatile; hence all Cable components must get smaller in size.
Offering a bend radius that is 10 times greater than larger sizes, Alpha Wire’s micro coax comes with either a silver plated or tinned copper conductor.
