January 30, 2019 By Mary Gannon Leave a Comment

CDM Electronics, Turnersville, N.J., today announced the availability of the Sumitomo Electric Interconnect Products Inc. (SEIP) Sumitag Shrink Tubing Marking Systems optimized for aerospace, military, and mass transit cable assembly OEMs. Systems include the high-volume STP-300 SS single-sided printer and the market-exclusive STP-300 DS double-sided printer.

Sumitag DS Double Sided cable label Printer High ResThe robust thermal printers are delivered with the proprietary Sumilabel software interface to produce 300 dpi marker sleeves that meet SAE-AS5942 quality specifications. In addition to providing wire and cable identification, marker sleeves promote enhanced interconnect strain relief, fluid resistance, abrasion protection, and insulation. The printers feature auto calibration positioning for fast media changes and are fully compatible with all Sumitag products. Sumitomo Electric Interconnect Products’ STP-300 SS and STP-300 DS printers, and marker sleeves are now available from CDM Electronics.

As Sumitag high-performance, low-waste marker sleeves conform to SAE specifications AMS-DTL 23053/5, AMS-DTL 23053/6 or AMS DTL 23053/18, they are ideally suited mission-critical applications. The marker sleeves are commonly used on cables in military/tactical communications radio, weapons, power distribution and fire control applications. They are equally appropriate to identify cables employed in commercial and private aircraft, avionic and space flight systems, telecommunications, digital/video conversion, switching cable assemblies, railway/mass transit, and electronics manufacturing and repair.

The STP-300 SS single sided and STP-300 DS double sided systems boast efficient one-pass operation, an Ethernet or USB interface, and a convenient and intuitive navigation panel. Both provide a print resolution of 300 dpi, print speeds of 1 to 5 in./sec, and a maximum print width of 4.25 in. The STP-300 SS features a media width range of 3/32 to 2 in., whereas the STP-300 DS media width is 3/16 to 3/4 in.

All Sumitag marker sleeves additionally meet NSA 937201 Type MR and MT specifications for high operating temperature applications and are resistant to fuels, lubricants, and solvents. Diesel-resistant marker sleeves meet MIL-STD-202 standards for testing electronic and electrical component parts. They are available in standard lengths of 1/2, 1 and 2 in, and in diameters from 3/32 to 1-1/2 in. Sleeves are supplied on an easy-to-use roll, in a unique flattened format, and on a space-saving carrier to ensure maximum operational efficiencies. They are available in yellow and white for universal applications.
