Siemon Interconnect Solutions saves money and power

September 18, 2015 By Jennifer Calhoon Leave a Comment

Siemon Interconnect Solutions, a business unit of Siemon that provides custom network infrastructure solutions to OEMs, value-added resellers and system integrators, is pleased to announce SFP+ active copper twinax cable assemblies developed specifically as a cost-effective and lower-power solution for short reach links in high-speed data center interconnect applications.

Siemon

“We are excited to expand our portfolio of high speed interconnects with Cisco compatible and standard SFP+ active copper cable assemblies,” says John Sawdy, Senior Signal Integrity Engineer for Siemon Interconnect Solutions. “Ideal for switch-to-server connections within the data center, these cable assemblies have been tested for interoperability and meet industry standards, providing customers with a best-in-class cabling solution.”

Siemon Interconnect Solutions’ SFP+ active copper cable assemblies combine twin-axial shielded cable construction with robust die cast housings for enhanced support of high frequency data rates of 10+ Gb/s per lane. Intended for high-performance computing environments that require lengths beyond the capabilities of passive copper solutions, these active cables use signal processing within the connector back shells to extend the length of reach up to 10 meters.

The Cisco compatible SFP+ active copper cable assemblies are programmed specifically to work with Cisco equipment. When plugged into Cisco equipment they will not trigger the warning message that a non-Cisco transceiver has been detected. The Cisco compatible and standard SFP+ active cable assemblies are available in 7 and 10 meter lengths, while Cisco compatible and standard SFP+ passive cable assemblies are available in lengths up to 7 meters.
