Raychem CANbus cables offer speeds to 1 Mb/sec for military, aerospace

March 13, 2019 By Mary Gannon Leave a Comment

TE Connectivity (TE), Harrisburg, Pa., has launched its portfolio of Raychem CANbus (Controller Area Network) cables. With variations available that cater to a variety of harsh environments, these high-speed copper cables offer a ruggedized means of transmitting data at speeds up to 1 Mb/s.

TE Connectivity Raychem CANBus cable 2The high-performance 120Ω twisted pair cables are available in constructions that meet SAE J1939 and SAE J1939-11 and -15 requirements for use in military ground vehicles. With operating temperatures ranging from –65° to 200°C (depending on construction), TE’s Raychem CANBus cables are also available in constructions designed for use in aerospace applications, as well as marine applications.

“In addition to designing a cable that is easier to terminate, compared to tape-wrap designs, we offer a variety of material choices versus a one-size-fits-all solution,” said Lynden Bajus, product manager for TE’s Aerospace, Defense and Marine division. “We can draw on a diverse portfolio of materials to design a solution around an industry’s needs and environmental conditions.”

TE’s Raychem CANbus cables can be used in military ground systems, flight controls, aircraft galleys, and military and commercial aerospace, among other applications. Custom-designed cables are also available upon request.
