Heat trace cable for long process pipelines

July 15, 2013 By Mary Gannon Leave a Comment

Series Long Line Heat Trace Cable (SLL) is similar to Chromalox’s current self-regulating heat trace, making it compatible with their current accessory offering. It is suited for use on extremely long pipelines where high temperature maintenance is critical for freeze protection and viscosity maintenance.  Ideal applications include alternative fuels, power generation, oil and gas, chemical, food, and pulp and paper industries, where long pipelines are transfer liquids from the processing plants to the storage facilities, tank farms and transportation vessels.

The series has longer circuit lengths for these applications—up to 7,000 ft (2286 m), powered from a single source with output ranges up to 12 W/ft and voltages from 120 to 600 V. Reducing the number of circuits, or power connections on a long pipeline results in significant cost savings. They can also withstand continuous exposure to temperatures up to 450°F (232°C).

SLL cable allows users to minimize the number of power points that need to be provided over a long section of pipe, which will reduce installation time and cost.
