Flexible Power Cables for Aerospace Applications

November 24, 2015 By Jennifer Calhoon Leave a Comment

Cicoil’s highly durable Single Conductor Power Cables are designed for use in Mission Critical Aerospace applications, such as Commercial and Military Airframes, Avionics, Missile Guidance Systems, In-flight Electronic Communication Equipment, Drones,/UAV’s, Space Launch Vehicles, Satellites and Weapon Firing Systems. The halogen-free, Flexx-Sil™ rubber jacket provides extreme all-weather flexibility, is flame retardant (UL 94 V-0 and FAA) and performs exceptionally well when exposed to severe heat and frigid temperatures (-65°C to +260°C).

Manufactured with high-strength, oxygen-free copper wire, Cicoil’s design is naturally more flexible than other types of single conductor cables, and is immune to extreme vibration, G-Forces, mechanical stress, salt water submersion, corrosion, sunlight, acid rain, ice, corrosion, coarse sand, UV light, humidity, weld spark, ozone, steam, radiation, the rigors of turbulent flight and most chemicals. The proprietary crystal-clear encapsulation needs no external “armor” or conduit for protection, is “self-healing” from small punctures and cable jacket damage can easily be repaired in the field.

Rated for voltages up to 42,000 Volts DC, Cicoil’s Hi-Flex Single Conductor Power Cables (4/0 AWG to 32 AWG) are available in continuous lengths, cut to order, or as assemblies, complete with lugs or connectors of your choice, 100% tested and inspected. In addition, Cicoil offers anti-friction coatings, custom colors and lower/higher voltage designs by request.

Cicoil’s UL Recognized, CE Conforming, Class 1 Clean Room Rated and RoHS & REACH Compliant cables are manufactured in an automated, climate controlled environment, and exceed the ASTM E-593 outgassing specifications for space use and vacuum requirements.

Cicoil has been a leader in designing and manufacturing high performance cable assemblies for almost sixty years. The company’s Patented Flexx-Sil™ Flat Cable Technology provides high flexibility, extremely long life, and they can withstand temperature extremes from -65 degrees to +260 degrees Celsius. Cicoil’s flat cables are used in thousands of demanding applications; including aircraft fuel control cells, semiconductor automation, and the Space Shuttle. Cicoil designs and manufactures its Flexx-Sil™ jacketed cables and cable assemblies in an automated facility in Valencia, California. Cicoil’s quality assurance system is certified to the ISO 9001 (AS9100) standard.
