Flat cables for sub-zero temperatures

January 4, 2016 By Mike Santora Leave a Comment

missing_filenameRated for operational temperatures as low as -65°C, Cicoil’s highly flexible flat cables have been designed to provide non-stop reliability in Punishing Weather, Polar Climates, Cryogenic Equipment and Space Applications. Ideal in land, air and marine equipment, these extremely rugged and UV Resistant cables are an excellent alternative to PVC, Teflon, Neoprene and Polyurethane cables that tend to be less effective in sub-zero temperatures.

The deep freeze resistant Flexx-Sil Rubber Jacket needs no external conduit for protection, retains flexibility and will not deform, crack or wear due to long-term exposure to intense cold temperatures. In addition, the ultra-durable jacketing material is “self-healing” from small punctures and cable jacket damage can easily be repaired in the field.

Unlike other cables that become stiff and brittle when exposed to frigid environments, Cicoil’s unique Flexx-Sil rubber jacketed cables are unaffected when exposed to ice, snow, sea ice, vibration, salt water submersion, permafrost, physical shock, operational stress, high levels of UV rays & ozone, de-icing fluids, most chemicals and even high heat (+260C) too.

Each Cicoil flat cable can incorporate a variety of components including power conductors, shielded control wires, high speed transmission data pairs, video conductors, multi-layer shielding options, strength members and Cicoil’s patented StripMount fastening strip, all combined in a single condensed cable design, precisely controlling the inner component spacing, jacket thickness and the overall cable shape.

Standard “off the shelf” single conductor, multi-conductor and hybrid cables are available from stock in continuous lengths, cut to order, or as assemblies with connectors of your choice, 100% tested and inspected. For applications that require abrasion and adhesion resistance, Cicoil offers anti-friction coating options by request.

Cicoil’s Arctic Grade Cables are UL Recognized, CE Conforming, RoHS & REACH Compliant and are manufactured in an automated, climate controlled environment. In addition, these environment-friendly cables are 100% contaminant-free and exceed the outgassing requirements of ASTM E-595.
