cdm-sumimark_iv_10-25-16CDM Electronics, an authorized distributor of electronic connectors and cables, announced the availability of the newly released SEIP (Sumitomo Electric Interconnect Products, Inc.) SumiMark IV 300 DPI Marking System. Featuring state-of-the industry Windows-compatible SumiLabel software engineered specifically for the cable identification industry, the fully-integrated and easy-to-operate marking system no longer requires a dedicated computer for printing. It’s thermal transfer printing process produces a dry, permanent mark, which can be handled immediately after printing and meets the requirements of SAE-AS5942, after shrinking. The intuitive SumiLabel software allows for creation of freeform text, graphics, logos, barcodes and sequential alpha/numeric markers in addition to standard Windows fonts in sizes ranging from 5 to 120 points. The system imprints on all SM3 SumiMark tubing in a broad range of sizes and materials, as well as on marker tags used for identification of large cables or harnesses. Both the SumiMark IV 300 DPI Marking System and SM3 SumiMark tubing products are available from CDM Electronics.

Versatile and robust, the SumiMark IV 300 DPI Marking System is widely used to print durable 300 dpi text and graphics on cable assemblies and wiring used in nearly any harsh environment where temperature fluctuation, abrasion and chemical resistance are factors. Cable Assembly OEMs rely on the system to imprint labels and tags for cable assemblies and wire harnesses employed in military/tactical communications radio, weapons, power distribution and fire control applications. Marked labels and tags are also utilized on tubing to identify cable assemblies and wire harnesses in commercial and private aircraft, avionic and space flight systems, telecommunications, digital/video conversion, switching cable assemblies, and in railway electronics manufacturing and repair applications.

The most recent SumiMark Marking System can import a wide variety of file formats (Excel, ASCII or tab-delimited files) for automatic conversion to wire lists, along with all required graphics. The software is uniquely engineered to automatically size text to user-specified marker lengths and diameters to reduce print media waste. Optimized for long life and reliability, the SumiMark high tensile strength thermal printer is easy to set up and is supplied with a USB interface. Its multi-position print head pressure adjustments allow for printing on the widest variety of heat-shrink tubing while eliminating ribbon wrinkle. The system prints on media in diameters of 1/16 to 2 in. and produces scored or cut labels in lengths ranging from 1/4 to 4 in. Print speed is 1 to 4 inches per second. The compact, industrial-strength frame conserves space and provides years of reliable service.
